Most of Christendom doesn't understand the Doctrine of Imputation, that's why they think one has to do good works in order to be saved.
The Apostle Paul stated in Romans:
"Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God IMPUTETH righteousness without works" - Romans 4:6.
Impute means "to pass to one's account or to count over". Jesus took our sins upon His record and then placed His righteousness upon our record. Romans 4:8 says, "Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin".
"For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him - 2 Corinthians 5:21.
Man cannot earn God's righteousness. The only hope is that he receives the righteousness of Christ which was purchased at Calvary.
Calvary took care of our past sins. But what about our future sins?
They have already been imputed, placed on the record of Jesus Christ and so God will not impute sin to those who are in Christ.
Perhaps someone would care to elaborate on this.

Many people think that if they live a good life, they will go to heaven when they die. But no-one can live up to God's righteous standard:
The Human Condition:
Romans 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one ...."
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God ...."
No matter how good we profess to be, our salvation can never be earned.
The Result:
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
The Remedy:
Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth ...."
Believe what?
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel ... that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures ...."
How does the Gospel of Christ save us?
Romans 5:8-9 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."
Romans 3:22-26 "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation (appeasing sacrifice) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus."
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast."
Ephesians 1:13-14 "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."
Are you saved? Do you have His righteousness?
The problem in the world today isn't sin, it's unbelief. Your sin was forgiven 2000 years ago, now all you have to do is BELIEVE. Will you trust that the Lord Jesus Christ is your Saviour?

Faith & Grace can co-exist, but works cancels out Grace. Not blind faith, but faith in HIS Finished Work to HE explained thru HIS apostle to us gentiles. Any other gospel is a perverted gospel and has no saving grace involved in it. Oh if only more people would be willing to take an honest look at Paul's Gospel of Grace and go by what the Bible says, rightly divided!!!
