Tips for Effective Witnessing
As the name of our group implies, Grace Age believers are “ambassadors for the risen Christ.” In 2 Corinthians 5:18-21, we believers have been entrusted with the “ministry of reconciliation.” We should be proclaiming to the world that the Lord Jesus Christ has reconciled the world unto Himself! They simply need to have faith in the Gospel of Grace, and God will apply salvation and forgiveness to their account!
Here are some tips for effective witnessing:
1. Pray for opportunities to witness to the lost world. Be ready at any time to talk about the Lord to others!
2. Study the Scriptures as often as you can—you need to know what you’re talking about before you share the Bible with others. Lost people won’t want to listen to someone who knows just a few Scriptures.
3. Your testimony can be a great witnessing tool. Tell them how meeting the Lord has impacted your life. How has He helped you through difficult times? Or, if you could relate something in the Bible to their own life, that may help too.
4. Refrain from teaching denominational doctrine: just because your church supports it does not make it Scriptural! Teach the Scriptures rightly divided, and if the verses applied to Israel, LEAVE it in Israel’s prophetic program. If it’s not found in Romans through Philemon, it does NOT apply to the person. For instance, Acts 2:38 and Acts 10:45-48 are NOT for us today!
5. Here are some good questions to spark a Bible conversation: Have you been reconciled with God? Would you like to have assurance of going to Heaven? What will you say to God when you stand before Him? What do you think of the Bible? How can someone stand blameless before the holy Lord God? Do you know the meaning of life?
6. If you have a reliable dispensational Bible tract on hand, maybe give them one. I have tracts I can send you via email (contact me for more info). Invite them to your church. Offer to pray with them. If you care not to give your personal info to them, they can contact me at arcministries@gmail.com and I can pick it up from there with a new believer’s article and a basic doctrinal statement.
7. Now, as the Scriptures say, “we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). You may not see immediate results—it could be many years before anything happens. We Christians are never commanded to make them believe, we are only told to tell them the Gospel of Grace. Remember, God’s Word will never return to Him void, and It will accomplish His will (Isaiah 55:11). You planted seed, and God will give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6). Your job’s finished: well done.
8. AGE OF GRACE: SALVATION VERSES (Be sure to have the person recognize his/her sin separates from God, and their good works cannot erase their sin nature; only Calvary and Christ’s shed blood and resurrection can cleanse that sin nature).
- THE GOSPEL OF GRACE — 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
-Ephesians 2:8-9
-Romans 10:9-13
-1 Timothy 2:5
-Romans 4:1-5
-1 Thessalonians 4:14
-Galatians 2:16-17, 20-21
-Romans 6:23 and Romans 3:23
-Romans 3:23-31
-2 Corinthians 5:21
-Romans 5:1-11 (Romans chapter 5 in its entirety is a great passage regarding salvation)
-Colossians 1:12-18
