New to forum, just started listening to 1490. I enjoy the bible teaching and have learned a lot. I believe in Salvation by grace through faith plus and/or minus nothing. I believe baptism just identifies us with Jesus Christ (I am member of a baptist church). I keep hearing preaching against being baptized. If the Apostle Paul is the apostle to the gentiles then why did he baptizere???

First, I would like to ask you where in the Bible are we taught that water baptism "identifies us with Christ"? The Bible does not teach that. That is purely human reasoning. Some teach we are "following the Lord in baptism", again, that is not true. Jesus waited until he was 30 years old to be water baptized, Baptist churches want to water baptize you as young as they can, or if an adult, as soon after you start attending regularly as possible. Water baptism was a Jewish thing.
Second, the Apostle Paul water baptized because he didn't know any better at that time. Acts 26 20 shows that immediately after his conversion Paul began teaching a Jewish message, repent, turn to God, and do good works. Acts 22: 14 and 15 tells us what was going to happen to Paul, he was going to see the risen Christ and hear him speak and learn his will. These revelations that were to come to Paul were mysteries, that means things never before revealed unto mankind. With these further revelations, Paul would learn that water baptism was part of a previous dispensation. Paul did many Jewish things in those early days before Christ brought him up to speed for this present dispensation.
