“Rightly Dividing” the Scriptures: Abolishing Legalism
[ I do not want to attack: I do not hate anyone. I want to promote GOD’S TRUTH, so if you disagree, do not bother replying, because it will be deleted! ]
Cults, religions, and denominations around the world burden their poor followers with an extensive list of ordinances. “Do this, and do that, and do this, so you can get this and avoid that. Do that, so you can get this, and avoid this so you can get that.”
Foolish, foolish, foolish. Religious people can hardly take a breath without the possibility of infringing some silly mandate. This is the danger of refusing to “rightly divide” the Scriptures. Taking Israel’s Mosaic Law and applying it to people living in the Age of Grace is ABSOLUTELY FOOLISH. These religious leaders are not telling the people truth: they are propagating denominationalism, ideas that a particular denomination promotes, and something the Bible does not advocate. Some groups and religions keep their members “in line” by threatening them with hellfire, excommunication, or physical torture.
We are NOT under the tithe of Israel. Whether Old or New Testament, walking the aisle cannot be found anywhere in Scripture. Water baptism was part of Israel’s Kingdom Gospel, something with which we have no connection. The Bible instructs women to dress decently and respectfully, but does not forbid them from wearing pants and looking beautiful (earrings, makeup, etc)—flaunting yourself with a pair of TIGHT jeans and dressing promiscuously is something entirely different, as it would not please God. There is no Sabbath Day to keep. The word “sacrament” is absent from Scripture, as is “denomination.” If you want to eat bacon and pork, Paul (our apostle) says you can, as long as you thank God for it!

Here is the legalistic spectrum, ranging from (not an exhaustive list):
(1) Abstaining from certain meats by adhering to Old Testament kosher food laws!
(2) Women commanded to wear hats while in church, and forbidden to wear pants, earrings, and makeup!
(3) Keeping the Sabbath holy—it was Saturday in the Bible, not Sunday!
(4) Going to the movie theater and playing musical instruments are examples of sin!
(5) Giving that 10 percent tithe if you want God’s blessings!
(6) Walking the aisle and getting water baptized to show you’re saved!
(7) Joining a particular church denomination if you want to have eternal life!
(8) Keeping the sacraments and praying faithfully!
Oh, the list is endless, and people pollute the pure Gospel of Grace with a bunch of baloney. Nothing but vain, worthless, men’s ideas being promoted right along side “SALVATION = FAITH + NOTHING!” When you see forms of legalism, RUN! RUN! RUN! Spare yourself the headache and the burden—just run, and do not bother to look back over your shoulder!
